Mira is the daughter of Dram who put her father on the ship intended to take him to a medical facility on Tau Ceti where he would receive palliative treatment for the terminal illness affecting his mind. Mira and the nature of Dram's illness are discovered by the crew when a data crystal is retrieved from his cryopod explaining Dram's identity and condition.
